Excursion description
Mount Kovrižka, named for its unusual cake shape, is located on Cape Vindis. Kovrižka rises 78 metres above sea level and has an almost perfect circular shape with a radius of more than 50 metres. The flat top of Kovrižka is famous for the archaeological remains of ancient man found on it.
Cape Kuznetsov was named in honour of Captain Kuznetsov D.S., who commanded the first detachment that sailed to the Far East in 1957 to protect Russia’s borders.
There is also a year-round rookery of sea lions and seals, large colonies of seabirds – cormorants, gulls and puffins. Cape Kuznetsov has a lighthouse of the same name.
