Description of excursion
Cape Krilion is the southernmost tip of Sakhalin Island.
The cape is connected to the north by a narrow, steep isthmus with the Krilion Peninsula, to the west by the Sea of Japan, to the east by the Aniva Bay of the Sea of Okhotsk and to the south by the La Perouse Strait, which separates Sakhalin Island from the northern part of Hokkaido Island (Japan) at a distance of forty to forty kilometres. Cape Krilion is called an “open air museum” because of the ancient buildings that have been preserved.
There is also an active lighthouse built in 1896.
