Fishing on Sakhalin has become a real cult for all residents and visitors. Almost everyone who comes to Sakhalin for rest and relaxation is bound to try winter fishing. Fishing on Lake Busse is particularly popular with tourists.
And what do we bite? Some of the most popular winter fish on our island are smelt and saffron cod. In winter they come to the shores of Sakhalin en masse and with a good bite you can catch well over 100 fish per person per day. Smelt is even called the 'calling card' of the island because of its unique flavour.
