Excursion description
The Torii Gate marks the sacred grounds of the Higashi Shirauraura Inari jinja Shinto Shrine, which was opened in 1914. The Torii bears the inscription 'In honour of the 2,600th anniversary of the founding of Great Japan' - this mythological date was widely celebrated in 1940. From the upper platform, there are excellent views of the village, the sea and the hills. Seals can be seen with binoculars installed here.
